Samurai Rovers hit Burnham for six in 10-goal thriller

-

Burnham were on the wrong side of a 10-goal thriller on Saturday, losing 6-4 to London Samurai Rovers in the FA Vase preliminary round.

The few spectators that made the journey to the 1878 Stadium were treated to an end-to-end game of football as new signing Anas Igozouln fired the Blues in front first before Tokiya Hirosawa made the score 1-1 at half-time.

In the second half, the visitors got themselves in front with a couple of quick goals and following a water break Rhys Harper brought it back to 3-2. However, substitute Kanta Osawa hit back immediately after Harper’s finish to restore the Rovers’ two-goal advantage.

Morrison Hashii made it 5-2 in the 67th minute before Leo Decabo grabbed another goal for the home side. Hashii then completed his hattrick with 20 minutes to go before the Blues had one final attempt find the back of the net in the 82nd minute.

At full-time, a tweet from the side’s Twitter account read: “A frustrating day at the office today. At times we were by far the better side. We played it out from the back, used the full width and crossed into dangerous areas. It wasn’t to be. Thank you to all who came to watch. Your support is really appreciated as always.”

W It won’t be long until Burnham’s goalkeeper Carl Dennison has an international cap to his name, having been called up to the England six-aside which will compete in the Socca World Cup in Budapest, Hungary this month.

As explained on the Football in Berkshire website, the Socca World Cup is not a FIFA competition but run by the International Socca Federation (ISF), an organiser of international small-sided football competitions for both national teams and club teams in the formats of five, six, seven, and eight-a-side football.

Dennison and his compatriots will be testing their mettle against Portugal (September 10), Argentina (September 11),Tunisia (September 14) and Ukraine (September 15) in Group F. The stopper has spent the last few seasons at Step 5 with the Blues, playing 17 times last year as the side finished 13th.

He has previously played for Slough Town, Beaconsfield Town and Chalfont St Peter as well as Ascot United and Windsor.
