Unbeaten home record ended by Minstermen

-

Maidenhead United 0,

York City 1

Maxim Kouogun's near post header in the early stages condemned Maidenhead United to their first home defeat of the season on Saturday.

The hosts headed into the fixture - the first ever meeting between the two sides - with a 100 per cent record at York Road, but the Minstermen managed to spoil that with this narrow victory.

Having picked up victories over Scunthorpe and Altrincham on home soil, United came into the game with some form behind them, however, despite knocking on the door and creating several decent chances, they weren't able to force an equaliser.

York secured their first away win of the season with a goal in the 11th minute, Kouogun converting Maziar Kouhyar's corner with a near post header.

Maidenhead threatened sporadically but failed to match their displays against Scunthorpe and Altrincham. Sam Beckwith came close with an effort that Ethan Ross managed to save in the City goal, but it was the visitors who came closest to extending their lead early in the second half when Kouhyar saw his corner cleared back towards him and his second cross flashed across the face of the goal.
