Villagers flock to Dorney Annual Show
DORNEY: An abundance of community spirit was on display at the Dorney Annual Show.
The event, organised by the Dorney Horticultural Society on August 27, gave green-fingered villagers the chance to showcase fruits and vegetables from their gardens and greenhouses.
An array of delicious jams and fruit crumbles were also on display alongside handicrafts.
Show secretary Peter Bowman said: “The best thing we felt about it was the general feeling of fellowship, good humour and community spirit.
“Everyone seemed incredibly enthusiastic and friendly to each other and the society.”
Jamie Butterworth, who won gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, presented prizes to the show’s winners, including John Akerman who won a judges’ special award for his homegrown cucumber.
