Blocked in by workmen without any notice

- EVELYN ZIVKOVIC Badminton Road Maidenhead

On Friday I woke up to strange noises outside my bedroom window at about

8am.

Thinking the bin men had come early and I had not put my bin out, I saw that workmen had closed off the pavement the length of my street and were digging it up.

I saw something about fibre optics on a sign.

I noticed that all the cars parked in their drives were trapped.

I rang a friend on that side of the road and asked if she had been informed about this.

No one had contacted the residents to let them know about it, thus anyone wanting to get to work or use their car for any other reason had been unable to move their car onto the road.

The same thing happened to my side of the road on Saturday but at least we expected it.

I assumed they had finished after they left.

Today (Monday) I came home to find my drive completely blocked also with no warning and was unable to bring my shopping in as I had to park some way away. I have a blue badge and find it difficult. My neighbour’s car was trapped in the drive.

I do not know of anyone who knows what is going on, as there has been no information whatsoever delivered to any resident.

I thought fibre optic was supposed to improve communication.

However, it is obviously used to avoid normal human contact and I have no doubt I will be informed this information is on

Twitter or some such.

Not good enough.

I assume the council knows about it and surely they should let residents know that they are permitting homes to be cut off from the road.
