Royal Borough libraries to host sessions on job opportunities at Heathrow

-

Residents can find out more about job opportunities available at Heathrow Airport at two drop-in sessions at Windsor and Maidenhead libraries.

The Royal Borough is working with the Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy to deliver the sessions, which will be held at Windsor Library on Thursday, September 15, and at Maidenhead Library on Thursday, September 22, both from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Staff from Heathrow Academy will be available to explain the variety of roles on offer to local jobseekers as well as current vacancies, shift patterns, rates of pay and the specific requirements needed in order to be able to work at Heathrow.

They will be able to discuss travel options from the borough to Heathrow, security clearance procedures, and the support available to jobseekers interested in working at Heathrow via the Academy, which connects the airport, business partners and local employers to support delivery of new jobs and apprenticeships.

Currently there are more than 80 different types of role available, and a wealth of job opportunities with various different companies located at Heathrow.

Councillor Andrew Johnson, the council leader, said: “Supporting our residents to find employment or a new job opportunity is a priority for the council and supports our ambition to create a borough of opportunity and innovation.

“Using our central library spaces to inform our residents of the opportunities available to them nearby and having staff from Heathrow available on hand to provide advice and guidance on the opportunities available, is a great way to support our community, our economy and the reputation of Britain as a great international tourist destination.

“It also supports our ambition to attract domestic and international visitors to the borough.

“As an international airport hub, Heathrow is working hard to drive customer numbers up to pre-pandemic levels, and a skilled and committed workforce is pivotal to its success. Royal Borough residents are ideally placed to support Heathrow’s ambitions, and with domestic travel to Heathrow becoming quicker and easier with the opening of the Elizabeth line, these jobs have become more accessible than ever.”

Residents who wish to attend should just turn up on the day.
