Dev keen to point out the positives after tie

Maidenhead United FC: Magpies dominate latter stages of 1-1 draw with Halifax

-

Manager Alan Devonshire was quick to admit Jordan Slew’s goal was a poor one for Maidenhead United to concede in Saturday's 1-1 draw with FC Halifax Town, but he was equally keen to point out the positives from the side’s performance on Saturday afternoon.

Having taken the lead through Cole Kpekawa’s goal on the stroke of halftime, the Magpies were pegged back by Slew's strike, however, they created a flurry of chances to win the match, most notably for Charlee Adams and Adrian Clifton.

Down the other end, Dan Gyollai was on hand to deny Mani Dieseruvwe and captain Alan Massey stood firm to stifle his replacement,

Rob Harker, before referee Sam Mulhall brought the game to an end.

The draw is the Magpies’ first of the season to go alongside their two wins and four losses.

They rise to 17th in the table while Chris Millington’s side slip to 22nd.

Speaking of the result, Devonshire said: “It was one of them days. After halftime, we wanted to kill the game off and get forward.

“We ain’t good enough at defending to say ‘sit back’.

“It was a poor goal for us to concede really but I’m pleased with the way we reacted. The boys rallied and pushed. We hit the woodwork, Cliff (Adrian Clifton) could have got a goal, we just weren’t able to [score].

“We just have to move on now, that’s all we can do.

“We have got two big games coming up now. We will have a go and see what we can get.”

Maidenhead United play promotion challenging Wrexham away on Saturday before they travel to Boreham Wood next Tuesday (September 13).
