Lowry birdied the 18th to hold off the challenge of Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy by just one stroke on the West Course in Sunningdale.

Previous champion, Tyrrell Hatton, finished tied for 57th. He carded six under par for his three rounds and shot two rounds of 69 going into the final day’s play.

Despite finishing 11 shots behind the champion, the Marlow golfer earned €22,650.89 and more ranking points keeping him inside the world’s top 20 (17th).

The event was suspended on Thursday evening following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The players and officials observed a two-minute silence when play resumed on Saturday.
