Special talk on Zulu Wars
MAIDENHEAD: A rugby charity which distributes grants to help children is hosting a talk by a historian in the town next month.
The event by Wooden Spoon Chilterns will take place at Maidenhead Rugby Club on Braywick Road from
7pm to 10pm on Monday, October 17.
Rob Caskie is a South African historian, revisiting the 1879 Zulu Wars.
Tickets cost £20 per person.
As part of its work, the Chilterns arm of the nationwide charity has made donations to a range of organisations in the area.
A donation of £20,000 was recently made to Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) for toilets and changing facilities.
The charity also recently donated £85,000 to Berkshire Youth for their Waterside Centre, based in Newbury.
A donation of £100,000 was also made to Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service for a special bedroom encompassing all the facilities.
