Begins at Eton End

-

Mrs Rachael Cox assumed the role of Headmistress in September 2022 at Eton End. With nearly three decades of extensive academic teaching and management experience, Rachael describes her approach to this new position as being “committed to enhancing Eton End further into a forward thinking Prep school at the heart of the community, providing all our pupils with the best possible start to their educational journey”.

Based in Datchet, Berkshire, Eton End takes boys and girls from rising 3 to 11 and offers a nurturing approach to academic excellence. At Eton End, every child is celebrated for their uniqueness and guided towards the next steps in their learning with care and understanding – whether in academic preparation for an 11+ exam or developing as well-rounded young people with an understanding of their own well-being and that of those around them.

Educated with a degree in Politics with History from Warwick and a Primary PGCE from Reading, Rachael embodies a continuous life-long learning attitude – something she intends to inspire in her pupils. Rachael holds a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Management as well as Chartered Manager Status awarded by the Chartered Management Institute. She was elected as a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching in October 2020, a testament to her commitment to the teaching profession and her engagement with the latest educational research. With 28 years’ experience across the maintained and independent sector, including time as an advisory teacher with a local authority, Rachael has a wealth of experience to lead Eton End into the next phase of development.

Rachael is looking forward to working in partnership with parents and teachers to ensure childhoods are preserved whilst ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning. Preparing children for a lifetime of change and learning is a core function of education today. Rachael believes that developing resilience, empathy, compassion and humility is just as important as learning to read and write.

Every child can thrive and flourish when the environment around them recognises and values their strengths as well as identifying where they need to go next.
