Fashion designer joins tireless Oxfam fundraiser
COOKHAM: A veteran fundraiser from the village was joined by fashion designer David Emanuel for a charity coffee morning this week.
Barbara Walmsley was at Holy Trinity Church Parish Centre alongside the Welsh fashion mogul on Wednesday morning.
She is often spotted collecting for Oxfam at Sainsbury’s, in Providence Place, and has been collecting for the charity in Maidenhead for the past 36 years.
When she was not able to undertake her usual fundraising during the
COVID-19 lockdowns, staff at the supermarket collected money on her behalf with the aid of a Barbara mannequin.
Barbara has also previously taken part in fasting campaigns to raise awareness of global poverty.
Fashion designer David, 69, is best known for designing the wedding dress worn by the late Diana, Princess of Wales, at her wedding in 1981.
He also finished runner-up on reality show I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2013.
