Years of tax cuts are back to haunt council

-

Well blow me down with a feather. The council report (front page Sep 29) that council reserves are under ‘considerable pressure’ and there may not be sufficient to ‘absorb the financial pressure’ unless significant savings are made.

Who would have guessed it? All the years of no increase in council tax, extolled as a virtue at the time by the Tories, are now coming back to haunt them, or more accurately us. Where will the savings come from, when there is little left to cut?

Who knows, maybe readers will take all this into account when it comes to casting their vote in the council elections next May.
