Bees hammered on home ice by Telford Tigers

-

The TSI World Bees didn’t have the best of weekends as they lost 3-1 to the Sheffield Steeldogs before being hammered 8-4 on home ice by the Telford Tigers.

The results leave the Bees ninth in the National Ice Hockey League with only two wins from nine so far this season.

On Saturday, they travel to the side just above them in the table, the Raiders for a 5.15pm face-off, before hosting the Sheffield Steeldogs at the Slough Ice Arena on Sunday, 5pm face-off.

On Sunday, the Bees were outscored and outplayed by a Tigers side who’ve moved fifth in the standings.

The hosts were playing catch up from early in the game, with the Tigers scoring from a power play after 5.04 minutes. They made it 2-0 less than 30 seconds later, giving the Bees further ground to make up.

Juha Lindgren halved the deficit with the Bees’ first goal of the night, but a dreadful first period saw them concede five more without reply to trail 7-1 heading into the first break.

The game was as good as over, with two periods still to play, but the hosts did at least restore some pride. Netminder Adam Goss prevented the Tigers from stretching their lead even further with some fine saves and the Bees managed to give the scoreline a degree of respectability thanks to goals from Josh Martin and Brendon Walkom. The final period saw both sides score a goal apiece with

Dominik Gabaj grabbing the game's final goal to make the final score 8-4.
