Magpies ‘stick together’ to maintain unbeaten streak

-

Koby Arthur said there is a great togetherness at Maidenhead United following the club’s competent victory over Eastbourne Borough in the the FA Cup on Saturday.

The 2-1 win over the Sports was largely deserved, the midfielder declared at full-time, and stretches the Magpies’ unbeaten streak in all competitions to four games.

Should they maintain the consistency, specifically in the league, Arthur believes it might not be long before Maidenhead United find themselves in the play-offs.

Alan Devonshire’s men are currently 13th in the National League after 13 games played, five points off seventh-placed York City, with Barnet to play next.

They will host Dagenham & Redbridge in the first round proper of the FA Cup between Friday, November 4 and Monday, November 7.

“We’re sticking together well as a team and playing some good football,” said Arthur.

“No disrespect to Eastbourne, the better team won today. They came out flying trying to cause an upset but there’s plenty of togetherness at the club right now.

“We’ve got a good group that want to work for each other, we’ve got a good manager, and we’re on a good, unbeaten run.

“The boys were brilliant today and we’re pleased to go through to the next round. Everyone here wants to play that league club, that Championship team, that League 1 team, or that League 2 team next. That would be brilliant for the fans to see too.

“The boys just have to keep doing what they’re doing, and we will get somewhere this season. We are trying to get into the playoffs really.

“You’ve got some strong teams at the top, but everyone can fly high in this league. We’re trying our hardest to get three points in every game.”

On his individual performance against Eastbourne Borough, Arthur added: “I know what the gaffer wants from me. When I first came in, I knew what I had to do to help the team too.

“My strengths are playing in that hole, and I think I’ve done that well so far. I’m going to kick on and keep doing what I am doing to help the team.

“I got into a few [good] positions but that’s what I should be doing. As a number 10, you should get into those positions, make things happen, and get yourself a goal aswell. Overall, I done what I needed to do to help the team.”
