Britwell score seven to progress in Senior Cup

East Berkshire League round-up: Tournament makes a return after two year absence

The Maidenhead Norfolkian Senior Cup made its much-anticipate­d return on Saturday after a two year absence due to COVID-19 and there were 16 goals shared across four first round ties, writes Rob Stevens.

There was an all-East Berkshire League tie where Iver Heath won 2-0 at Old Windsor thanks to goals from Kingsley Etefia and Matt Gingell.

Britwell have been scoring goals for fun in recent weeks and put seven past Maidenhead Town Reserves to ease into the next round.

Both Harry Farnan and substitute Lawrie Toombs scored twice in the victory, with further goals from Charlie Graves, Stuart Rowbottom and the in-form Joseph Zemaitis, who also scored a hat-trick for the Steamteam last weekend.

Taplow United made smooth progress in the competitio­n after a 6-1 win at home against Chalvey Sports Reserves.

Both Justin Bangura and Jordan Jawandha bagged a brace, with Ryan Moore and Kris Tuffour also hitting the back of the net.

A single goal was enough for Holyport Reserves to edge past Singh Sabha, whilst Southcote were awarded a walkover win when Hype Train could not fulfil the fixture.

Frontline Reserves began the defence of the Slough Town Junior Cup trophy with a 2-1 win against Slough Heating Laurencian­s Reserves in a first round tie on Saturday.

Goals from both Loren Dennis and Dean James were not enough to see Eton Wick through after a 7-2 defeat at

Reading City Developmen­t.

SB Phoenix Reserves edged out AFC Reading, 3-2.

The tie between Reading YMCA Vets and Wraysbury Developmen­t was abandoned in the second half after a serious player injury. The tie was level at 1-1 at the time of the abandonmen­t.

Surrey Rangers bowed out of the Surrey FA Saturday Lower Junior Cup after a 7-2 defeat at Bookham.
