WSEH AC athletes receive Lottery funding boost

-

A total of 66 British athletes have been chosen to receive UK Sport National Lottery Funding ahead of Paris 2024, with Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH AC) athletes among them.

The athletes have been split into four categories, podium; podium potential; relay and confirmation and, while none of the club's athletes are set to receive the top level of funding, three are considered to have podium potential looking ahead to the next Olympics.

These are 400m hurdler Jessie Knight, high jumper Morgan Lake and hammer thrower Taylor Campbell. Another from the WSEH stable, 400m runner Alex Haydock-Wilson - who claimed bronze in this summer's European Championships - is set to receive confirmation level funding.

Knight had the most consistent summer of all the WSEH athletes, finishing fifth in the final of the 400m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games before being denied a gold medal in the 400m relay by disqualification after a teammates foot had strayed out of her lane on the first change over.

Lake had a more mixed season, finishing fourth in the high jump at the Commonwealth Games after a bout of COVID denied her the chance to compete at the

World Championships in Eugene.

The aim of the funding is to help these athletes develop and achieve further success ahead of the World Championships the 2024 European Championships and the Olympic Games in summer 2024.
