ex-service, uniformed and youth organisations participated in the wreath laying ceremony, which was followed by a church service at St Mary’s Church.
Ceremonies also took place across the parishes in the area as the nation paid its respects to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Maidenhead RBL branch secretary Ray Williams estimated that about 2,000 people turned out for Remembrance Sunday outside the Town Hall, with the army cadets carrying the
Legion’s standard.
Ray added that he was ‘hopeful’ the branch could do better than the £46,000 raised last year, but would not know the total until about a month when the pots are counted.
“All things considered it was very successful,” he told the Advertiser. “Remembrance Sunday was very well attended.
“We have got plenty of volunteers but we always need more members.”
