Town deserves better than this shambles

-

I have watched the proceedings of the Windsor Town Forum (WTF) with increasing incredulity over the past few years, petty squabbles and political grandstanding has reduced the forum to a farcical talking shop.

This week however, this quarterly meeting (which contains three members who do not even represent a Windsor ward), sunk to even lower depths, eventually being abandoned after 15 minutes.

The upcoming season is a busy one for our wonderful town with Christmas lights, markets and events in the town centre and

Dedworth all adding to the celebrations. The police have ideas on how residents can stay safe as the nights draw in, Centrica have top tips on how to save money during the winter season and community groups are working hard to make up for the deficiencies in local provision by organising litter picks and cemetery clean ups.

Not that any resident would know, as the Windsor Town Forum where this information can be shared, descends into absurd chaos.

There is however a simple and effective way to solve this recurring problem of underrepresentation.

Eighteen months ago, over two thousand people signed a petition for a Windsor Town Council (WTC) only to be voted down by the Maidenhead dominated Conservative administration.

A Town Council would bring direct democratic representation to the people of Windsor, ensure money raised through the Windsor precept is spent on projects within the whole town and bring an end to the type of shambolic scenes as witnessed this week.
