Desborough teams enjoy National Over 60s success
Desborough were paired against Rivermead in the National Over 60s
Double Rink competition and defeated them 37-20 this week. They progress to face West Berks A who got the better of Desborough's B side.
In the Over 60s singles, Malcolm Woodley is through to the next round after beating Barry Williams 21-19 in a tense encounter.
In the men’s pairs, Mark Peachey and Keith Roper proved too strong for Whiteknights pair, defeating them 21-15.
In the men’s triples, Desborough’s Mark and Andrew Essex and Malcolm Woodley came up just short on their travels to Handy Cross, losing narrowly on the final end.
The Ladies Champion of Champions competition saw Helen Jones beaten 21-16 by Morgan Merryweather.
Robert Measom, Andrew Essex, Mark Essex and Mark Peachey enjoyed a good tussle with West Berks in the London & Southern Counties Fours, winning 21-17 with some solid play at the business end of the match. They’ll take on Loddon Vale in the next round.
This week Desborough also welcomed London Welsh Bowling Association to Green Lane. winning by 18 shots (11092). The rinks skipped by John Munnelly, Dave Perriman and Sam Stack did well to return winning scorecards, but the cornerstone of the victory came from the top rink of June Palmer, Yvonne Hurley, Nicola Jones and Captain of the Day, John Davis, who won 23-5.
