School’s stage lighting upgrade
COX GREEN: Students at a secondary school will be able to explore new opportunities following the transformation of the lighting in the school theatre.
Over the summer holidays, technicians from JLGroup, a live event business providing event technology equipment, were busy replacing Cox Green School theatre’s old tungsten lighting with the latest automated LED lighting equipment.
The transformation was sponsored by JLL, which donated the equipment, and the project was organised by Jack Linaker, a former Cox Green pupil and managing director at JLGroup, together with Tom Smith, the IT and facilities operation manager.
The aim of the transformation was to give young talented students the chance to work with the latest lighting equipment to develop their skills further.
JLGroup provides lighting for shows such as Comic Relief, Top
Gear and Beat the Chasers.
The newly installed lighting will be maintained by JLL and reinvigorated as new practices and technology come forward.
Cox Green School headteacher Danny Edwards, said: “Visitors to the Cox Green School open evening were the first to see the amazing upgrade to the theatre lighting provided by JLL overseen by their MD, Jack Linaker, Cox Green School alumni.
“The modern lighting equipment will provide students of drama/theatre studies the opportunity to learn and experience lighting equipment they will use in modern performing theatres and studios.
“The lighting was a vast improvement to the ageing equipment we had previously which would have taken many years for the school to upgrade, also allowing lower running costs and fantastic work experience opportunities with JLGroup.”
