Will recession hit pack of flat plans for town?

-

The UK is now in recession and property prices are dropping fast as potential buyers feel the pinch of Tory Austerity 2.0.

One has to ask if the hundreds of flats being built or planned for Maidenhead will ever sell, or whether the various developers will delay or even pull out of their schemes. Certainly the Nicholsons scheme will stall if Areli pull out, as they have done from a similar scheme in south east London.

Cala Homes are ‘consulting’ the community on their Golf Club scheme and Countryside is supposed to start on the Magnet scheme next month, with further planning consents for schemes in York Road.

If any one of these schemes are delayed, the council will face financial embarrassment.

If they are all delayed, the financial black hole could be very deep and ruin any chance of a Tory council being re-elected in May 2023.

Come to think of it, the governments of Johnson, Truss and Sunak have already done that.
