Things are looking up in the town centre
Visiting Maidenhead recently, it was good to see the regeneration of the town centre continue at pace.
Even if you are not a fan of the new architecture that’s evident in some of the new buildings, there is no doubt that regeneration is happening in the centre of Maidenhead.
The latest regeneration project to be completed – the £12m investment in a new car park at Vicus Way – comes on top of a new railway station forecourt, a new sports centre at Braywick and new eateries and housing by the waterway.
It is a promising time for Maidenhead! By way of contrast Windsor councillors (from all parties) could not agree among themselves who should chair a meeting
about the town recently.
There was so much political posturing, point scoring and technical faults that the meeting was abandoned after just 20 minutes!
I do hope that some sensible voices will come forward to represent the residents of Windsor in council elections next year.
There is considerable support for people who want to improve our beautiful town and ensure that, while the regeneration of Maidenhead continues, Windsor does not degenerate into a pointless political squabble.
