Chipping Norton are sent packing in the Denny Cup

-

Desborough knocked Chipping Norton out of the Denny Cup this week in a game that didn't go the full distance.

The Maidenhead side won on three of the four rinks to clinch a 39-shot, 91-52 victory.

The rink skipped by Kevin Scrace won by 12 shots, but their result was eclipsed by an outstanding display from Jeff Beal, Bob Forster, Mark Essex and Colin Jones, who won 38-7.

Desborough go through to play Mid Glos on December 10.

Desborough's Women's team have also progressed in the Yetton Trophy after a tough, 16-shot victory over county rivals Whiteknights.

Desborough won 90-74 with the rink skipped by Lorraine Woodley winning their match by six shots at home.

But the difference makers played in the away matches, with Gill O’Neill skipping her side to a 17-shot victory. The other rink skipped by Mary Price won by five shots. The team will move on to play Mid Glos on December 10.

Desborough welcomed London Scottish Bowling Association to Green Lane this week but managed only two rink wins from six

The rink skipped by Brian Faulkner got the better of fellow Desborough member, David Perriman, by eight shots, but top rink honours were taken by Norma Cormican, Don Isaacs, Helen Payne and Clive Northover, who won 17 – 7.

The rink skipped by Mark Essex managed a one-shot win, but the glory went to Steve Isaac, Daniel Teverson, Andrew Essex and

Colin Jones who won their rink by 13 shots, 28 – 15.
