Record-breakers Ascot United secure 10th straight win

-

Tuesday evening proved to be a record-breaking night for Ascot United as they secured their 10th successive win in all competitions.

The Yellamen are riding high at the top of the Combined Counties Premier Division North, a point clear of second placed Reading City following their 7-1 hammering of Hilltop at the Racecourse Ground.

The record breaking run started with a 3-1 success at Wokingham & Emmbrook on October 8 and includes two FA Vase victories over Newport (IOW) and Broadbridge Heath.

Manager Jamie Tompkins and his assistant Dan Masters, aided by their backroom staff, Steve Quelch,

Stuart Britton, Chad Smith and newly appointed Dean Greenwood deserve credit for the impressive start the side have made to the season.

In fact, their only defeats this season have come in successive league and cup games against Flackwell Heath and in the FA Cup against Holyport.

However, the Yellamen have responded well to defeats this season by going on long, unbeaten runs and their current 10-game winning streak includes a crucial 2-1 victory over title rivals Burnham at home at the beginning of November.

They're yet to face their closest rivals in the league, Reading City, with the sides set to meet on December 6.

Up next for the Yellamen is a home game with London Lions on Saturday (November 26) before they host Little Common, again at the Racecourse Ground, in the third round proper of the FA Vase on Saturday, December 3.
