Cracking down on knife crime
ROYAL BOROUGH: Police in Windsor and Maidenhead made three arrests relating to knife crime in a week-long crackdown ending last Sunday.
From November 14 to 20, officers and other staff across Windsor and Maidenhead took part in Operation Sceptre, the national police operation to tackle knife crime.
During the week, three arrests were made and one male was charged and remanded in custody for offences relating to knife crime.
Seven community resolutions were issued for other offences, including theft and possession of class A and B drugs.
Community Resolutions provide an opportunity for the police to deal with low-level offences without formal criminal justice sanctions.
This could include a simple apology, an offer of compensation or a promise to clear up any graffiti or criminal damage.
The local Neighbourhood Teams were also out and about to launch the new knife amnesty bins that have been placed at several locations.
These are in Vansittart Park, Maidenhead High Street and Tesco’s in Dedworth. TVP staff also set up community engagement stands there.
The aim was to support and encourage young people to move away from violence and involvement in gang activity.
Police also completed several educational visits to schools across the borough.
