Day of playing for a good cause

-

CHARVIL: Playing outside from dawn until dusk is the dream of many children but two charity-conscious siblings had another idea – to play and raise money at the same time.

Seven-year-old Grayson Rowland and his four-year-old sister Everly, decided to create a ‘Playground Dash’ in aid of children’s charity, First Days.

They spent the entire day on Saturday hopping from playground to playground with the aim of spending a minimum of 10 minutes in each area.

They swang, climbed, slid and ran in 30 playgrounds in the area.

Mum Viki said it was all Grayson’s idea. She said: “He had the idea for the challenge as he wanted to help other children after

learning about how some families are struggling and so First Days felt like a great fit.”

So far the family has raised almost

£700 for the charity, which provides dayto-day essentials to local families in need.

The Playground Dash started in Holyport and finished in Charvil, taking

Grayson and Everly 10 hours to complete.

“Having researched I think this is completely unique as we can’t find anyone else who has done something similar,” added Viki.

“I have to say the children were absolutely amazing throughout – they just kept saying this is ‘the best day ever.’”
