Labelling concerned people is unhelpful

-

It is really disappointing that residents who want to be heard and consulted have been labelled as ‘activists’ by our council leader.

I think of myself as a pro-active resident who has deep concerns about the future wellbeing of our community, with the overdevelopment of our town leading to increased traffic congestion and air pollution, and the destruction of thousands of mature trees on Maidenhead Golf

Course, currently providing important wildlife habitats and protecting us from some of the air and motorway pollution.

Fifteen years of heavy construction vehicles, followed by thousands of extra cars once the new homes are built will be joining the jams and are going impact negatively on our community’s health and happiness.

And handing over £16million to the golf club to leave their lease early is surely not a good use of public money? Especially at a time when we face a cost of living crisis and need to provide increased support to the most vulnerable in our community.

As a pro-active resident, I urge others to join our call to our council to stop the destruction of our precious trees and greenspaces.
