Supporting positive community projects

The two firms behind a key town centre redevelopment are among the sponsors of this year’s Maidenhead and Windsor Businesses and Community Awards.

HUB and Get Living are sponsoring the Community Project of the Year Award.

The companies are partners on the One Maidenhead project, the redevelopment of the town centre triangle site bordered by Queen Street, King Street and Broadway.

HUB managing director Damien Sharkey said: “HUB places a genuine emphasis on partnership with the communities we work in. We’re currently working on the town centre project One Maidenhead on behalf of our partner Get Living, and together we wanted to do something to celebrate the local community.

“The awards are a great opportunity to do this by recognising outstanding contributions to the area by individuals and organisations.

“We chose to sponsor the Community Project of the Year award as these projects are so important to a local area, and we hope that in celebrating them we encourage more to happen.

“It’s particularly relevant to us due to the central location of the One Maidenhead project and the positive impact we’re striving for it to have when it opens, with new public gardens and retail spaces for the local community to enjoy, as well as the residents who will live there.”

The awards will return on Friday, September 22, for the first time since 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic. They will be held at the Castle Hotel in Windsor and tickets are now on sale.

The awards aim to bring the business community together and champion stories of success, bravery and determination.

The event is an initiative led by the Maidenhead & District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Baylis Community Media CIC and Lime Blue Solutions.

Entry for award categories is free and open to any business or individual based in Maidenhead, Windsor or the surrounding villages.

The awards are also open for members of the Maidenhead & District Chamber of Commerce outside of the surrounding area.

Categories for businesses to compete in include Best Covid Bounce Back, Best Business Start Up and the Best Company to Work For.

Awards are also up for grabs in the community section which includes the Local Hero Special Recognition Award, Community Project of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to the Community.

The closing date for entries is Friday, June 30.
