Put your environmental questions to parties

-

In 2019, the RBWM Climate Emergency Coalition successfully campaigned, in parallel with the local elections held that year, for the borough to declare a climate emergency. Having declared the emergency, the council also adopted its own Environment and Climate Strategy, and committed to a net zero borough by 2050.

With council elections taking place in May this year, the CEC has organised environment-specific hustings for next week, in both Windsor and Maidenhead, and we’ve managed to secure the support of two very experienced chairpersons.

Charles Appleby, founder of n0co2, will chair the Windsor event, and broadcast meteorologist Peter Gibbs will chair the Maidenhead hustings. Invitations to join the panel have been sent to the parties fielding the most candidates in the May elections.

If you’d like to find out how the borough’s environmental journey is going, to hear what the candidates are planning for the next four years, and to ask your own questions about the environmental issues most important to you, come and join us.

The Windsor hustings will take place at 7pm on Monday, April 17, at The Old Court Artspace, SL4 3BL, and the Maidenhead event will take place at 7pm on Thursday, April 20, at Furze Platt Senior School, SL6 7NQ. If you’d like to submit a question to ask at either event, please send it in advance by email to plasticfreewindsor@gmail.com or wildmaidenhead@gmail.com. Questions may also be submitted on the night, between 6.30pm and 6.50 pm.
