Special beers to cheer bridge news

Entertainm­ent and plenty of food and drink is being offered by one Cookham pub hosting a party weekend to celebrate the reopening of Cookham Bridge.

The bridge, which has been closed to motorists since October for essential maintenanc­e works, will reopen tomorrow (Saturday).

To mark the occasion, The Ferry in Sutton Road is holding a party weekend from Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24, with a host of events on offer for visitors to enjoy.

From 6pm on Friday evening, March 22, pub-goers will be entertaine­d by a DJ while enjoying canapes.

Visitors to the village on Saturday March 23 will be able to browse stalls from businesses in the area at the family fun day hosted by the pub.

A mini beer festival and live music will also run throughout the day, with a barbecue on offer.

An opportunit­y for people to bring their furry friends to the pub to enjoy the new dog friendly menu will take place on the Sunday, March 24.

Roast dinners will be available from 12pm to 9pm on the day, with live music entertaini­ng visitors from 4pm to 6pm.

Takeaway coffees will be available all day and customers will

also be able to take away bacon rolls from 9am to 11pm.

Stacey Humphrey, assistant manager at The Ferry Pub and Restaurant, said: “We are hugely excited to welcome more guests through our doors.

“We know how much of an impact it has made to the public, ourselves and other local businesses.

“We have a lot lined up this year and will use this now to move forward with plans to have a great Easter and summer.”
