Thursday March 28 The Magic of Terry Pratchett Norden Farm

It’s 40 years since the first of the Discworld novels was published so it's the perfect time to join author and comedian Marc Burrows on a journey into and behind the stories.

Based on his award-winning biography and officially endorsed by Sir Terry Pratchett’s estate, the show explores the author's life, influences, impact, wit and wisdom, from his days as a school librarian to his time as a trainee journalist to his untimely death from Alzheimer’s in 2015.

Sir Terry Pratchett is best known for his 41 comic fantasy novels set on the Discworld and the apocalyptic comedy novel Good Omens which he co-wrote in 1990.

With over 100 million books sold worldwide in 43 languages, Pratchett was the UK’s best-selling author of the 1990s.

Marc writes for the Guardian, The Observer, The Quietus, iPaper and many more. He also has a background in stand up comedy and has performed several runs of his one-man shows at the Edinburgh Festival fringe as well as around the country.

The Magic of Terry Pratchett is a comic lecture in which Burrows explores Pratchett’s influences, his rise to fame, impact, and unique life, becoming one of the most beloved storytellers of all time.

The show was a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe and critic comments include this from Edinburgh reviews: “The Magic of Terry Pratchett is a slam dunk must for any reader of Pratchett. Furthermore, you can and should bring your non-Pratchett-savvy friends.”

Outside of writing and comedy, Marc plays in the cult punk band The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing, regularly performing at the Download, Glastonbury, Bestival and Latitude festivals and touring the UK and US.

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Discworld and discover the joy, anger and delicious cock-and-bull stories of one of the greatest storytellers of all time. Though it comes with a warning: the show includes bad puns and unnecessary footnotes.

Perfect.
