Cute way to ‘bring people together’

- By Sally Gray news@baylismedia.co.uk @MaidenheadAds

Today the Advertiser is launching the 2024 search for the area’s favourite pet.

In recent years, it has become clear how important our pets are in our lives.

They provide comfort, stress relief, friendship and laughter every day, so let’s celebrate them together.

The competition is not restricted to traditional pets like cats and dogs.

There are no classes or entry criteria apart from the requirement for all entries to be domestic pets – no matter how weird or wonderful.

The Top Pet winner will receive a photoshoot for them and their pet with a professional photographer and a framed 8”x10” photograph of choice from the shoot.

This year, Pet Care in Furze Platt will also give the winner a voucher worth £40 to spend in the shop and the runner-up will receive a £15 voucher.

Pet Care is a family-run independent pet shop which has provided an Aladdin’s cave of pet and aquatic foods for over 13 years in Cannon Court Road, offering good impartial advice to customers, ensuring their family pet has a healthy diet through different stages of their life.

They offer pet products at competitive prices for canines, felines, fish, caged animals and birds (as well as wild animals) with varieties of food, snacks, litter, bedding, treats and toys.

The shop also offers worming, flea and tick treatments for every animal you can think of.

There is also a loyalty scheme for returning customers.

Reflecting on the rise in pet ownership, Chris Bateman, who recently became the owner of the shop, having been store manager for 15 years, said: “I strongly believe that owning pets and feeding wild animals are a great benefit to our mental health – they can make us happier and healthier.

“Pets bring people together, providing opportunities to socialise for those who may feel isolated or lonely.

“Pets are part of the family and become your companion.

“Natural treats such as rabbits’ ears and raw dog foods have become more popular in recent times.

“Insect protein is used rather than meat protein which aide the dogs and cats with allergies.

“Vegan protein products are also popular as people think about the animal welfare and the current evolving environment.”

W To submit your entry to our competition, simply email your photo to us (sorry, no posted photos) showing your pet it in all its glory.

Include with it, your name, your pet’s name and your daytime telephone number.

Send it to sallyg@baylismedia .co.uk by Friday, May 10.

We will then print all the photos in the Advertiser and on the Maidenhead Advertiser website and ask readers to vote for their favourite online.

The winner will be the pet which polls the most votes.

So, what are you waiting for?

Whether you have a cute cat, great gerbil, delightful dog, superb spider or regal reptile, share it with us and bring a smile to our faces.

Please note that all photos submitted should be in jpg format and should be no less than 1MB in size.
