Hangin’ there for a dip in the lake

Pizza lover Dave Goodings has completed the world’s first ever pizza dip bungee jump at Bray Lake.

The DJ and social media influencer plunged 140ft above Bray Lake holding a slice of Pizza Express’ American Hottest.

Floating below was the tiny target – a tub of the pizzeria chain’s garlic butter – and it took 21 jumps to make dough meet dip.

The 30-year-old from Surrey had the crazy idea for the stunt whilst eating the same flavour of pizza in his local branch of Pizza Express.

“As I was dipping my pizza in the garlic butter I had a lightbulb moment,” he said.

“I wondered if anyone had done a pizza dip bungee jump from a significant height before and once I started researching the idea I realised they hadn’t.”

Dave then approached UK Bungee Club whose flagship bungee jump firm operate out of Bray Lake.

They sorted out the risk assessments and had a team of safety experts there on the day.

“Bungee Club UK were amazing, pulling all the planning and paperwork together because it was quite a dangerous stunt really,” added Dave.

“I had to do several rehearsal jumps first to stop me hitting the platform.

“They started me off jumping nowhere near the platform and then tweaked it so I got lower and lower.

“Once we worked out a rough estimate of where I would be landing then the challenge could begin.”

After 21 attempts the challenge was complete and the world’s first and highest pizza dip bungee jump was made.

“I was genuinely exhausted,” said Dave.

“I was unsure going into the challenge if it was even possible so to get the pizza into the dip on the 21st take was good.

“I’m glad it was then as I didn’t have too many jumps left in me.”

Dave said that setting the record feels amazing and he’s hoping to keep the title for some time so that he doesn’t have to repeat the efforts of March 5.

He added: “I’d done a few odd challenges in the past but this was just on a different level.

“I’d never felt anything like it.

“I actually had a hungover feeling after doing so many jumps but I was buzzing that I completed the challenge.”
