Tributes pour in as street fight ends up in tragedy

TRIBUTES have been paid to a 21-year-old man who was killed in the early hours of Sunday following a report of a large fight.

Detectives have launched a murder investigat­ion after the man, named locally as Dominic Doyle, was killed shortly before 3am.

Police were called to Manchester Road in Denton after a report of a mass brawl.

Officers arrived to find a group of between six and eight men had been fighting and two men had suffered serious injuries.

Both were taken to hospital but Dominic sadly died from his injuries.

A post-mortem examinatio­n is due to take place. The other man, aged 18, remains in hospital where he is being treated for facial injuries.

Two people have been arrested; a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and a 21-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. Both remain in custody for questionin­g.

Friends and family of Dominic, who was from Haughton Green, left hundreds of tributes for him on Twitter and Facebook.

One friend Will Lonsdale posted on Twitter: “Can’t believe what I’ve heard, RIP Dom. One of the funniest, most down to earth lads I will ever meet way too young.”

Jay Hall also posted his tribute on Twitter. He said: “Orrr [sic] no man can’t believe what I’m hearing RIP Dom.”

And @LewCharnel­y tweeted: “Can’t believe what’s happened to Dom, gone too soon. You’ll be missed by many, RIP x”

On the M.E.N. page Jennifer Ford posted: “R.i.p dom Doyle sadly u wil be mixed by all ur family n friends [sic].”

Dominic was taken to hospital after police were called to Manchester Road, near Crown Point North Shopping Park, fol- lowing a report of a brawl.

On Sunday, flowers were left near the scene with heartfelt tributes to Dominic. His family were too upset to talk when approached by the M.E.N.

Spt Phil Reade said: “A young man has died and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his relatives and friends.

“I would urge any witnesses to this tragic incident to speak to us in confidence.”
