Family brewer JW Lees reveals record turnover of £64m at annual conference

remains focussed on becoming a £100m turnover company by 2020 after it announcing record results.

During its annual conference at the Bridgewa

the family brewer announced sales of £64m in the financial year ending March 31, 2015.

Bosses said the landmark figure was achieved principall­y by acquiring and developing new pubs.

JW Lees will now pay more than 400 staff from a profit share pot of £440,942.

It means each team member will receive an average pay-out of just over £1,000.

William Lees-Jones, managing director, said JW Lees remains the leading family brewer in the north west, despite a challengin­g market.

“We are committed to growing the business towards our next landmark target of £100m sales by 2020, principall­y by acquiring and developing new pubs,” he said.

“JW Lees has had another record-breaking year and I would like to thank everyone in our team for their hard work and commitment that has made this happen.

“We are delivering on our business plan and it is a true privilege to be leading the team as we continue to grow our business.”

Mr Lees-Jones was joined at the conference by Dr Steve Bull, Team GB psychologi­st.

The author of ‘The Game Plan’ spoke to the audience about mental toughness and creating a winning mentality.

The family brewer has been around since 1828 and is based in Middleton.

The company

brews seven real ales as well as one lager, three smooth beers and seven limited edition seasonal cask ale including the popular, Manchester Pale Ale The Governor, Moonraker, Manchester Star Ale and JW Lees Bitter.
