Locked up: Drunk who hit his pregnant sister in stomach

John Robson pleaded guilty to two firearms charges - right, the haul of weapons and missiles found during a police raid on a property in Dukinfield A MAN who kicked his pregnant sister in the stomach was jailed for six months at Manchester magistrate­s court.

Daniel Woodworth, 26, carried out the assault after turning up drunk at her flat looking for his partner in June 2014.

Sending him down, District Judge Khalid Qureshi said: “This was as serious as it gets for a common assault.

“You were drunk and belligeren­t and knew your sister was 13 weeks pregnant. Thankfully no harm was caused to the baby.

“But I can imagine the stress and upset you must have caused her”.

Woodworth of Aspinal Drive, Little Hulton, was convicted after trial on two counts of assault, damage and twice failing to answer his bail.

Prosecutor Shazia Aslam said he had twice thumped his sister in the face and grabbed her partner round the throat.

After kicking a hole in the front door, he fled from the flat.

Carl Mills, defending, said Woodworth’s relationsh­ip with his sister was zero. “He deeply regrets what he did,” added Mr Mills.

The judge slapped a three year restrainin­g order on Woodworth banning him from contacting his sister.
