Macc agree deal to bring Whitehead home
DANNY Whitehead has sealed his return to Cheshire after signing for Macclesfield Town yesterday.
The forward burst onto the scene as a teenager at Stockport County before earning a move to West Ham.
He was only 19 and had already played 60 first-team games when West Ham paid County an undisclosed fee to sign him in June 2013.
But the move didn’t work out as he made just one firstteam appearance - in last season’s FA Cup - before being released in January.
Whitehead finished last term on a short-term deal with League Two Accrington before joining Macc on trial and earning a contract.
Today’s friendly
with Stoke’s Under-21s was cancelled so Macc will now host Congleton, with 10 per cent of gate receipts going to the Bosley fundrasiing appeal.
National League rivals Altrincham friendly at home to Port Vale.
