Lets quiz our ‘Lords’

-

services and backgrounds.

The main aim of the book is to give a big thank you to all World War Two veterans who fought so bravely to give us the freedom that we still have and enjoy today.

I am presently looking for one veteran in particular called Bill Pickering who was formally in the SOE (Special Operations Executive) during World War Two in Italy.

Bill presently lives in Leigh Green, Manchester, and is now 91 years old and still, by all accounts, very active.

If you know Bill and think you can help me I would be very grateful, as I would really like to interview him for my book called ‘A Debt of Gratitude’.

If you think you can help me contact me on 07960 021 492 or email me at bookoftheveterans@ gmail.com. Gary Bridson-Daley ELECT members of the Lords? Most of us couldn’t even recognise our local Member of Parliament.

How many constituents watch the parliament channel on TV? I watch it regularly, but I could only recognise five per cent of the members. I see numerous members who never speak in debates, some who rarely attend or some who fall asleep.

I know they have earned their place in the Lords. They are nominated by the Prime Minister in order to maintain a majority when voting for his demands.

However, there are members who are there because of their expertise in their fields, and have committed themselves to specific debates. So, ban any politician from recommending any new member. Do what the Labour Party are doing with their leadership hustings, so that their constituents can question them to determine their value, then I could accept electing any new Lords and Ladies.
