MUSICALS AND DANCE TOP THE BILL AT PALACE
Alexandra Burke in The Bodyguard THIS week, we look ahead at the Palace Theatre’s forthcoming autumn theatre season.

In a work based on George Orwell’s masterpiece, guest choreographer and former Royal Ballet dancer Jonathan Watkins traces the tale of Winston Smith as his every action is scrutinized by Big Brother. (7.30pm nightly, 2.30pm matinees Thursdays & Saturdays)

As part of their stay at the Palace, they perform the famous Brothers Grimm story in child friendly performances around 40 minutes long. Suitable for ages three up. (12pm & 2pm)

The Glenn Miller Story
(November 2-7)
Seventy year after Glenn Miller vanished over the English Channel to Paris to entertain the troops during the Second World War, this new musical spectacular reexamines the life, fame and mysterious disappearance of America’s most famous big band leader.
Music legend Tommy Steele stars backed by a 16 piece orchestra. (7.30pm nightly, plus 2.30pm Wed/Sat)

A golden-age musical about gamblers, gangsters and going out on the town stars Olivier Award-winning actress Sophie Thompson, and features the songs Luck Be A Lady and Sit Down You’re Rockin’ The Boat. (7.30pm nightly, plus 2.30pm Wed/Sat)

in 2014, this groundbreaking dance event is a poignant reflection on the First World War, recounting the experiences of those who fought the war and those who stayed behind.

The Bodyguard
(December 8-January 9, 2016)
The award-winning West End smash stars three-time Brit nominee and X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke as Rachel Marron – a role famously played by Whitney Houston.
The play follows former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, as he attempts to keep superstar Rachel safe from a stalker and includes the songs One Moment In Time, Saving All My Love, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.
Audiences should note that Alexandra Burke is not scheduled to perform at midweek or Saturday matinees, or on December 26. (7.30pm, nightly, plus 2.30pm Wednesday/Saturday and on December 24/31) Sarah Walters
