Ibra faces ban

-

ZLATAN Ibrahimovic faces a three-match ban after the FA charged him with alleged violent conduct.

It relates to an incident during Saturday’s Premier League fixture, when the United striker appeared to elbow Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings.

Mings appeared to stamp on the Swede’s head moments earlier, and he has also been charged with alleged violent conduct.

The FA said: “The players were involved in two separate incidents in or around the 44th minute which were not seen by the match officials at the time but caught on video.

“Furthermore, The FA has submitted a claim that the standard punishment that would otherwise apply for the misconduct committed by the Bournemouth defender is ‘clearly insufficient’.

“Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time by the match officials are referred to a panel of three former elite referees.

“Each referee panel member will review the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they consider it a sending-off offence. For retrospective action to be taken, and an FA charge to follow, the decision of the panel must be unanimous.”

Both players have until 6pm tonight to reply to their charge.

Provided United do not contest Ibrahimovic’s charge, the 35-year-old will be unavailable for the FA Cup tie at Chelsea, the trip to Middlesbrough and visit of West Brom in the Premier League. He would still be free to play in United’s Europa League round-of-16 ties with Rostov.
