Prisoner caught on camera smoking Spice in his jail cell
VIDEOS have emerged which show a prisoner getting high in his prison cell by using a makeshift pipe to smoke Spice.
Goaded by laughing inmates, he inhales the synthetic cannabis while being filmed on a smuggled phone.
Another video shows him, apparently under the influence of drugs, having his head forced down a toilet.
The clips were shot inside HMP Buckley Hall, a category C prison in Rochdale, before being shared on WhatsApp.
They have been obtained by the M.E.N. and forwarded unedited to prison bosses, who have launched an investigation into the ‘completely unacceptable’ behaviour.
All those captured on the videos face disciplinary action, which could include extending their time behind bars.
One former prisoner, who has a friend serving time at Buckley Hall, told the M.E.N. that some inmates will do anything for Spice.
“It’s everywhere in the prison. It’s all over the wings and the prison officers can’t do anything about it. It’s just too easy to get in.”
The inmate featured in most of the clips is seen in the first video sucking smoke from a homemade pipe – made from a plastic bottle.
Others in the cell him goad him to ‘hold it in’ as he inhales the smoke.
In a second clip the same prisoner struggles to walk the short distance to a bed in the cell and is said by one of the on-lookers to be ‘walking on air.’
In another clip the same inmate, who again appears to be under the affects of the drug, has his head forced down a toilet while other laughing prisoners wash his hair.
A Prison Service spokesperson said: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable. We are investigating this incident and any prisoners involved will face disciplinary action.
“We have a zero tolerance approach to drugs and all forms of alcohol in prisons, those who break the rules will be punished and can face extra time behind bars.”
