Eyes down! Bingo night for boy band stars
BOYZONE star Keith Duffy and former Westlife star Brian McFadden were Flying Without bingo Wings – as they headed for a night of madcap shenanigans at Bongo’s Bingo at the Albert Hall in Manchester.
The Irish singers – who are performing as Boyzlife after amalgamating their boyband alter-egos – were the surprise star guests at the Peter Street venue for the regular event that has reimagined the traditional bingo night.
Keith and Brian had a whale of a time for as well as singing some of their bands’ biggest hits – including Mandy, Father and Son, World of Our Own and When the Going Gets Tough – Brian was getting into the serious business of dabbing away in a bid to win at the bingo as well.
Fans got a visual treat, too, when the duo performed their version of Billy Joel classic Uptown Girl – alongside drag queens Sue and Suzie.
Also at one point, Brian climbed up on to the balcony to get a drink and left Keith and Jonny Bongo singing. Brian and Keith have been on a full UK tour as Boyzlife over the past 12 months, performing at Hilton Hotels across the country with a show of music and laughter as they recount the highs and lows of their boyband experiences.
And the Albert Hall event was pretty much a home gig for Brian – who now lives in Rochdale after finding love with PE teacher Danielle Parkinson.
Brian gave his ringing endorsement to the event, tweeting afterwards: “Just had the most fun you could possibly have. Bongo bingo. It’s bingo crossed with a rave. Highly recommend it!!”
In just two raucous years Bongo’s Bingo has become a surprise hit, with wild scenes taking place each night across the UK as the team move from city to city. A vibrant mix of players flock in from far and wide for the riotous nights of fun.
