Angel Meadow tower is set to reach the clouds
LATEST SKYSCRAPER PLAN IS FOR ULTRA-MODERN 40-STOREY BUILDING
THIS could be the latest skyscraper to grace Manchester’s skyline.
Plans for a huge 40-storey ‘ultramodern’ tower in the city’s historic Angel Meadow have been tabled.
Developers want to build four blocks containing more than 750 swanky apartments as part of a colossal £235m scheme next to the vast NOMA site, which includes the Co-Op Group headquarters.
The 40-storey tower off Gould Street will contain hundreds of twobedroom apartments geared towards professionals living and working in the city.
Designs for the huge structure also include ‘winter gardens’, overlooking the park and staggered throughout the complex, with one on every seventh floor.
An artificial park will also be built on the first floor, with a series of stepped terraces linking it to the existing park.
Another two towers – 22 and 17 storeys high – will be built on Aspin Street, with commercial space on the ground floors. On the other side of the park, on Old Mount Street, there will be another block – between nine and 12 storeys – comprising 131 apartments and five town houses.
The plans are being put forward by Investors Far East Consortium International, who first revealed their vision in March. They have now been submitted to the town hall for consideration.
Regional general manager Gavin Taylor said: “We are very pleased to submit Angel Meadow for planning.
“Working with 5plus Architects and Planit-IE, we believe we have produced a scheme of true international calibre, which makes Angel Meadow Park the focal point for the growing community.
“We’ve paid close attention to activating the ground floors and the spaces between the buildings while also providing a wide range of homes suitable for families as well as professionals.”
If council bosses approve the plans, building work could start at the site at the end of the year, with the first homes finished by 2019.
