A GANG of yobs has been caught on camera attacking a taxi driver in his car after luring him into a dead-end street.

The shocking dashcam video footage shows one boy running up the bonnet and windscreen of the vehicle as his friends hurl rocks at the windows.

On the video, the driver can be seen desperately trying to get away, attempting a three-point turn in the road as stones continue to hit the car.

The incident happened in Whitefield, Bury, at around 4pm on Tuesday.

It is understood the group of youths had called the taxi to Victoria Avenue from a withheld number before ambushing the vehicle and the unsuspecting driver close to Whitefield Community Primary School.

The video, taken from the cab driver’s own dashcam, shows around half a dozen boys believed to be in their early teens - stood waiting near a through gate to Oxbow Way, as the taxi approaches.

As soon as the car pulls up, a boy wearing a blue hooded coat walks towards it, before jumping onto the bonnet and running across the roof.

The rest of the group then begin picking up stones and throwing them at the vehicle.

They all appear to be dressed in dark-coloured tracksuits. The video, which has been shared hundreds of times on social media, was posted to the Spotted: Whitefield Facebook page. The post read: “Does anyone recognise these gentlemen? Freeze frames have been put in intentionally to try and see their beautiful faces.

“This is the cut-through between Victoria estate and Waterdale estate. Near to Whitefield CP.”

Dozens of people have responded to the post, many voicing their anger over what the footage shows.
