BMW driver slashed with a knife after two-car smash

POLICE are investigat­ing after a motorist was stabbed with a knife following a crash in Stockport.

The victim, who is in his 20s, suffered serious arm injuries and was taken to hospital.

Emergency services confirmed they were called to Reddish Road just before 2pm on Wednesday to reports of an assault.

According to Greater Manchester Police, a black BMW had been involved in a collision with a red Seat Ibiza.

The driver of the BMW was then knifed, before the Seat drove away from the scene, and the victim was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital by paramedics.

It is not yet known whether it was a targeted attack, or a road rage incident.

A spokesman for GMP said: “We were called just after 1.50pm to reports of an assault on Reddish Road.

“Officers attended and discovered that a man in his 20s had been driving a black BMW and had been involved in a collision with a red Seat Ibiza. He was then attacked with a knife.

“He has been taken to hospital with a serious arm injury and enquires are ongoing.”

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman added: “We were called at 1.47pm to a male with an arm injury. He was taken via ambulance to Stepping Hill Hospital.”
