Buyer sought for data centre provider

-

A Salford Quays-based data centre and cloud storage business has entered administration.

DataCentred, which entered administration yesterday (22 August) with FRP Advisory partners Anthony Collier and Geoff Rowley, is continuing to trade.

They are now seeking buyers for the business and assets and are continuing to trade the company while retaining all 15 members of staff.

DataCentred has traded for four years, operating both a physical data centre and cloud business and providing fully software-defined and cloudnative infrastructure services in the form of public and private clouds.

Administrators said that despite some notable client wins, the business remained loss making and is not viable in its current form.

The administration will allow the business to continue to trade whilst restructuring options are explored. FRP Advisory has begun to engage with interested parties in the business and assets as part of an ongoing marketing process.

DataCentred was established in 2012 by Dr Mike Kelly, a pioneer in the data centre sector.

Last year the company secured £1m to continue further expansion and grow headcount.

Collier said: “Over its fouryear trading history, DataCentred has earned a welldeserved reputation for its expertise and has supported a significant network of clients. We are marketing the business and assets for sale and we encourage any interested parties to make early contact.”
