Everyone is in a state of shock. Our thoughts are with his family Neighbour of man found dead in Wythenshawe
A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in Wythenshawe.
The 46-year-old was held after police were called to an address on Maismore Road, in the Woodhouse Park area, yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services attended at 1.15pm and found a man dead.
A woman was detained and taken to hospital for treatment, but no further details of her condition have been released.
Forensics officers in white suits were seen entering a flats block on Maismore Road yesterday evening, with several GMP vehicles parked up outside.
Extra patrols were deployed in the surrounding area after the man was found and police are now urging witnesses to come forward with information. Detectives were seen going door-to-door speaking to residents and have specifically asked for anyone who may have seen a ‘disturbance’ on Maismore Road over the last few days to contact them.
Residents last night told the M.E.N. they were shocked and upset on hearing about the death and arrest. One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “I was out earlier and my daughter rang me and told me it was all kicking off at the flats. I came back and there were police everywhere. “Everyone is in a state of shock. Our thoughts are with his family.” Det Chief Insp Lewis Hughes, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said last night: “We have launched a murder investigation which is in the very early stages. I urge anyone who was on Maismore Road over the last few days, and who may have witnessed a disturbance, to get in touch as soon as possible. “There will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days and if you have any information please speak to an officer.” A GMP spokesman confirmed: “A 46-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Formal identification and a Home Office post-mortem are due to take place.” Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident number 947 of 24/08/17, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
