THESE images show the incredible transformation of Bury-born actress Lisa Riley following surgery to remove loose skin after she lost a whopping 12 STONE.

After 18 months of hard work and dedication, the 41-year-old went from a size 28 to 12.

But instead of the dream body she had envisaged, she felt repulsed by her baggy skin and the 60 stretch marks on her stomach.

The Loose Women presenter questioned whether it would have been better to remain obese than be left with a body she hated even more – and which was causing her severe pain.

But after going under the knife to rid her of the excess skin, Lisa is happier than ever.

And instead of having the surgery in secret, she took the decision to allow a documentary crew to follow her journey. Lisa even agreed to show the naked body she detested so much to the world in a bid to highlight problems faced by people who lose vast amounts of weight.

Lisa said: “I was revolted by my own image; it was rancid. I was used to seeing the obese Lisa reflection, but this saggy mess was new, it was painful and it was quashing the brilliance of what I had done.

“People used to say, oh it is amazing how much weight you have lost, but they had no idea what was going on under my clothes,” he added.

“I used to tuck all the rolls of skin into my tights and underwear, I was very good at hiding it.

“Movement was becoming a severe problem. It really hurt, it rubbed and it would get red.

“I was determined to show the A thrilled Lisa Riley shows her postsurgery body to her best friend Kate. Right, Lisa before her operations harsh reality of it. I wanted to help other people.”

After talking to people who shared her experiences online, Lisa set up her ‘Baggy Body Club.’

She met up with those she spoke to in person to hear their stories and how having surgery changed their lives –which gave her the confidence to go under the knife.

Lisa added: “I was terrified of the operation. The night before the surgery, I was so petrified that everybody thought I wasn’t going to go through with it. I was thinking that in 11 hours I could be dead. I might not wake up from the anaesthetic.”

Lisa had two separate operations : The first a tummy tuck and removal the loose skin from her thighs; the second an op was to lift her breasts and get rid of excess arm skin.

It took Lisa several long, painful months to recover from the surgery, which she makes clear is no quickfix or easy route to a slim physique.

But now she couldn’t be more thrilled with her new body and is happy to show it to the world – scars and all.

Lisa Riley’s Baggy Body Club is on ITV1 at 9pm on Tuesday, September 5.
