ROCHDALE and BURY couldn’t be separated in their League One clash yesterday after a 0-0 draw at the Crown Oil Arena.

Neither side could make the breakthrough in the match, but Bury did have goalkeeper Joe Murphy sent off on 54 minutes.

While Dale may have earned a point, manager Keith Hill revealed he wasn’t best pleased with other aspects.

“I’m just happy that we got through the game, because if I’m being honest with you, I could have got in the car an hour before kick-off and drove home,” he said.

“I’m at my end of my tether with certain situations that are developing. There are so many things that are tripping us up.

“It almost feels like there’s some agenda against us that isn’t our fault. It’s difficult at this moment in time, so from a philosophical perspective, I’m happy.”

Rochdale are now third from bottom while Bury are in 17th place, and Shakers boss Lee Clark praised his team’s spirit after they had a man dismissed.

“We played over 35 minutes with 10 men so I’ve got to congratulate the players for their togetherness, it was superb,” he said.

“I thought we started the game brightly after an unacceptable performance last week, and there was definitely composure and presence.”

WIGAN ATHLETIC dropped off the top spot after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Portsmouth.

Wigan led after Ivan Toney’s opener, but Conor Chaplin equalised in a game which saw Chey Tunkley and Gareth Evans sent off for either side.

“It’s definitely two points lost. It’s a game where their goalkeeper is the best player, we’ve hit the post three times and had a man sent off,” said Wigan captain Sam Morsy.

“The game should have been over by half-time and on another day we win 5-0 today but unfortunately it ended a draw and we go again.”

OLDHAM ATHLETIC’s woeful start to the season continued after a 2-1 defeat at Blackpool.

Sean Longstaff and Kyle Vassell netted for Blackpool, and Aaron Holloway’s late strike wasn’t enough for bottom of the table Latics. “I’m very disappointed and gutted for the supporters who were brilliant again. We can’t be going into games and fighting an uphill battle all the time,” said Oldham boss John Sheridan.

“We’ve all got to look at ourselves, there’s no way I’m going to lie down, I’m going to face it full on and I’m going to make sure I get it right.”

In the Championship, BOLTON WANDERERS suffered a heavy defeat after a 4-0 loss at Hull City.

Two goals from Jarrod Bowen, along with strikes from Adama Diomande and Kamil Grosicki condemned Bolton to a loss, leaving them second bottom. Keith Hill
