Burton eyes title chance

- By SHELDAN KEAY

HOSEA Burton will look to move back towards title contention with a win on the undercard at the Arena tonight.

Burton is stablemates with Crolla, and he has been keen to re-claim his British lightheavyweight title after losing it to Frank Buglioni at the same venue last year.

The 29-year-old faces Kristof Demendi looking to build on his points win against Tamas Kozma in March.

Another member of Joe Gallagher’s stable on the bill is Marcus Morrison, who is desperate to put a frustrating few months behind him and return to winning ways.

Morrison faces Mariusz Biskupski, but heads into the fight on the back of two straight losses earlier this year.

The 24-year-old is looking to return to the form that saw him regarded as one of the best prospects in the country.

Sam Hyde is also in action as he fights for the first time with Gallagher in his corner.

The Sale boxer has worked with the trainer over the past few months, and now plans to continue the fine start to his career which has seen him stay unbeaten in his first 11 fights.

Scott Cardle, Conor Benn, Ryan Doyle, Jake Haigh, Gavin McDonnell, Joe Ham and Charlie Flynn are in action too.

There are two title fights on the undercard, with Sam Eggington defending his European welterweight title against Mohamed Mimoune, while Robbie Barrett puts his British lightweight title on the line against Lewis Ritson.
