United star avoids paying the penalty thanks to his wife

-

MANCHESTER United defender Chris Smalling was outsprinted by his wife as they raced to avoid receiving a parking ticket.

The footballer and wife Sam Cooke were enjoying a coffee date in Hale when they were almost caught out.

Sam managed to outpace her husband and reached the warden before he could issue the ticket.

An onlooker said: “When they spot- ted the warden they ran and Smalling reached the warden about three or four seconds behind his wife.”

Chris look concerned that he would be slapped with a ticket when he saw the warden by his 4x4.

It was all smiles for the couple – back in Manchester after sunning themselves in Oman – when they caught up with the warden, who appeared to open the door open for the Reds star.

Chris was recently overlooked by England boss Gareth Southgate for the recent friendlies against Germany and Brazil, which finished goalless.

The couple married this summer near Lake Como in northern Italy and their wedding was attended by Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw, Phil Jones and Sam Johnstone.

The 27-year-old proposed last year on a trip to Bali and Chris became the third United player to get married this summer following Matteo Darmian and Phil Jones.

SHE’S been at the centre of many explosive rows on The Real Housewives of Cheshire – but Leanne Brown looked a world away from all the drama as she tried her hand at face painting.

Reality star WAG Leanne looked happy and relaxed as she joined in the fun at the launch of Benetton Wilmslow for children.

Leanne, who is married to footballer Wes Brown and has three daughters Halle, Lilia and Lola, helped to unveil the Italian fashion brand’s collection at the new-look store on Water Lane.

And the store was inundated with families as the launch delivered a splash of colour to Wilmslow town centre, with young shoppers treated to a makeover with some colourful face painting. Leanne said: “The store is looking fabulous and it’s great to see Benetton back in Wilmslow. I’m sure the standalone kids’ store will be a big hit.”

Clare Vaughan, director at Benetton Wilmslow, said: “We’re thrilled that Leanne was able to join the celebrations. The response to the new collection has been fantastic and we’re looking forward to a bright future in Wilmslow.”

The Real Housewives of Cheshire finished its current run on Monday night followed by a reunion show hosted by Brian Dowling.
